Motown playlist: my top 10 favorites

Do you recognize that: music that makes you so happy? I am always very happy when I listen to the old songs from the Motown label. Motown Records is the name of the famous American record label, founded in Detroit, in 1959 by Berry Gordy. You can say that Motown has transformed the entire music industry. The label has produced a lot of stars in the sixties and seventies, such as Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and the Commodores. A Motown number is usually well recognized by the style.
The specific ‘Motown Sound’ of soul, R & B and pop really makes me happy. The lyrics of the songs are often about love: winning and losing it. I can listen to this phenomenal music anytime and anywhere. I picked out some of those numbers for you.

My top ten favourite songs are:
Marvin Gaye: What’s Going on (of course: Let’s get it on, I heard it through the grapevine and Sexual Healing)
Marvin Gay with Tammi Terrell: Is not no mountain high enough
The Supremes: You can not hurry love
The Supremes with the Four Tops: River Deep Mountain High
Rick James: Super Freak
Lionel Ritchie: Do it to me
Jimmy Ruffin: What becomes of the broken hearted
Diana Ross (with Marvin Gaye): You are everything and Chain Reaction
Commodores: Sail On
The Temptations: My Girl and Dad was a rolling stone

I would certainly be able to make this list a lot longer. And if you add these songs to your playlist and you play them during a drink, dinner or party, you will see that everyone, old or young, will listen to this great and timeless music with great pleasure. But you can of course also enjoy the great songs by on your own.
